Bank of America Entices New Customers with $300 Bonus for Opening Checking Accounts

Bank of America is offering a special deal right now where new customers can get $300 for opening a certain type of checking account with them. This offer is only good until May 31, 2025, and you have to go through a specific webpage they've set up to take part in it.

The bank is doing this to encourage more people to open accounts by giving them a nice bonus for doing so.

To be eligible for this promotion, you can't have opened a personal checking account with Bank of America in the past year. The types of accounts you can open to qualify for the bonus are called Advantage SafeBalance Banking®, Advantage Plus Banking®, and Advantage Relationship Banking®.

For more details about these accounts, click here.

Accounts for businesses or families don't count for this offer. When you go to open your account on the special page, you'll need to use a promotion code, which is PSJ300CIS.

Here's how you can get the $300 bonus:

  1. Open a new personal checking account through the promotional page by May 31, 2025.
  2. Set up and receive direct deposits totaling at least $2,000 within the first 90 days of account opening. These deposits need to be transactions like your paycheck, pension, or Social Security from an employer or organization into your new account.

Direct deposits mean the money must come straight into your account using your routing and account number. Just moving money between your own accounts, depositing through an ATM, or using mobile banking to transfer doesn't count.

After you've met these requirements, Bank of America will put the $300 bonus into your new account within 60 days.

Your account needs to be open, active, and in good standing when they do this. Also, you'll need to complete some tax paperwork because the IRS considers this bonus as taxable income.
